  • does anyone know anything about platinum catalytic converter recycling through refineries?

I am trying to figure out what the most the matierials of a catalytic converter are worth in volume or not on average . I'm confused when platinum sells for well over $1400 an ounce why are converters for 100. 00 each with so many refineries.

Catalytic converters contain precious metals such as platinum, palladium and rhodium. Arch Enterprises can now accept whole or partial catalytic converters for precious metal refinement.

Are there any benefits to cutting out my catalytic converter?

Hello everyone. I have a 1989 Buick Riviera and I am seriously thinking about cutting out my catalytic converter. I was wondering if I would notice any improvements on power or fuel economy. What about the noise level. Currently, I have a custom.

catalytic converters are there for a reason. an exhaust is there to take environment-killing fumes from your engine and heat. and blow it out of your car. a catalytic converter is.

    Catalytic converters?

Would it be illegal in arizona to cut the catalytic converter off of my 1994 ford F-150.

Everything you need to know should be on this website. http://www. org/az-arizona/. Although, reading that it's a 1994, I highly, highly doubt it. In most states, the only cars that can legally.

    Negativity toward universal catalytic converters?

Why is it I am having trouble finding a car repair place that is willing to install a universal catalytic converter. why is there so much negativity toward them. I have heard lots of excuses from mechanics but are any of them founded or are the.

because universal catalytic converters are maid to work with a wide verity of engines. But it will not work right. it will have too much back pressure or too little. this will affect the engines.

Can I take off the Catalytic Converter on my 1990 dodge d150?

i have a 1990 dodge d150 (V8 5. 2 litre engine) and i recently put on a thrush glass pack and noticed its not loud at all. it sounds exactly what it did with the stock muffler. so i was wondering if i could take off the catalytic converter because.

Catalytic converters are one of the most power sucking parts of your car. It's very possible that your catalytic converter has gone bad, meaning the parts inside it are trashed and causing extreme.

Project about catalytic converters help!!! Chemistry...?

Why are catalytic converters used in cars. This is for a chemistry project. keep the vocab simple please I'm only a ninth grader.

Catalytic converters are basically toxic gas removers. When a fuel is burnt toxic and harmful gases like oxides of nitrogen, carbon monoxide and unburnt fuel are released. So that to minimize the.

  • Methods for Monitoring and Diagnosing the Efficiency of Catalytic Converters

    Elsevier. 1998. ISBN: 9780080536491,0080536492. 446 pages.

The dramatic evolution of catalytic converters in the last thirty years was a result of a need worldwide to reduce pollution created by the exhaust gases of internal combustion engines. Environmental concerns have led American, Japanese and European Union (EU) legislation to pose continuously stricter emission limits for petrol engines in the last decades. The catalytic converter has become the most important means of exhaust treatment to achieve the desired emission limits. The international legislation has also created a need for a regular assessment of the efficiency of the catalytic converter in order to detect a deterioration of its conversion efficiency as soon as this deterioration takes place. The assessment of conversion efficiency of a catalytic converter can take place during normal driving of a vehicle (on-board diagnosis or OBD) or in a workshop by specialized technicians. The most important methods nowadays are the OBD methods. The evolution of methods concerned with OBD and non-OBD monitoring and diagnosing of efficiency of catalytic converters of internal combustion engines is described based on patents and published patent applications. Non-patent references are also used. The basic principles of modern catalytic converters are described in an extensive Introduction, where the importance of monitoring and diagnosing the efficiency of catalytic converters is demonstrated. The book is divided into four parts. The first part describes methods involving the use of oxygen or air/fuel exhaust gas sensors to determine the oxygen storage capacity of a catalytic converter. The second part describes methods involving the use of temperature sensors to determine the exothermic reaction capacity of a catalytic converter. The third part describes all other methods existing in patent literature that monitor and diagnose the efficiency of catalytic converters. The great majority of the methods of the third part involves exhaust gas concentration measurements. The fourth part comprises a general discussion of all methods described. In the beginning of each part, a short introduction is given to explain the problem that the methods attempt to solve. The methods in each part are presented in chronological order per patent applicant. This helps to evaluate how the patent applicant has improved his methods over time. A patent number index with information about the patent applicants, inventors, priorities and patent-families, an inventor index, a company index and a subject index can be found at the end of the book.
